What is Campus Connect

Campus Connect is a text messaging service in partnership with Globe Telecommunications. It provides an ICT solution that would cater to the information and communication needs of employees, students, parents and the community through SMS. With this service, the following are possible:

· Employees and students or their group/organization can receive free text message such as information campaigns, official announcements, notices, updates, school activities etc.

· Employees, students or anybody from the community may opt to receive preset text messages from the university by using a Globe or TM SIM.

Example: a student or a parent may inquire about the university’s enrollment schedule by doing the following:

o Compose a message and type BSUCAR<space>enroll then send to 2327.

o In a while, you will receive a message about the university’s enrollment schedule.

o Users need not register to use this service.

· Any Globe or TM users may send their message through Campus Connect. To send message, do the following:

o Compose a message and type BSUCAR<space>msg then send to 2327.

o In a while, you will receive a confirmation that your message is received.

o The message you sent can be read anytime by an authorized campus connect operator.

o Users need not register to use this service.

· Registered users may opt to STOP or REACTIVATE Campus connect service anytime through text.

· Polling; e.g. students can support a miss intrams candidate by texting a keyword. Results can be viewed by an authorized campus connect operator.

Broadcasting a Message

· Colleges, offices or student groups who wish to broadcast message shall fill up a form available from the ICT division.

· If approved, the message will be sent by an authorized BSU Campus Connect operator.

Registration

· Registration is free. Simply fill up the registration form distributed in each college/office or to designated areas.

· Registration through text:

o For students: Type BSUCAR<space><reg><complete name, id. no., maiden name> then send to 2327

o For faculty/staff: Type BSUCAR<space><reg> <complete name/College or Office> then send to 2327

· Registration is for BSU employees and students who are Globe or TM subscribers only. High school students and their parents are also encouraged to register to be able to receive updates and advisories.

· Registration is NOT mandatory but is encouraged because this service is one way of easily availing information from the university regardless of location.

Basic Charges

· Receiving broadcast messages (SMS/MMS) from BSU Campus Connect is free.

· P 1.00 will be charged to Globe or TM subscribers sending messages to BSU Campus Connect with access number 2327.

· Subscribers will be properly informed promptly for other charges (if any).

Frequently Asked Questions

· I am a Smart/Sun subscriber, can I avail of this service?

o No, this service is only available for Globe. The university will be charged if they will send SMS to other subscribers.

· I am a Globe/TM user but I am not registered to the service, what is the implication?

o Since you are not registered, you will not be able to receive SMS from the university. However, you can send your text messages and, you can inquire on preset messages set by the university.

· How will I know that the text message I received is authentic and it comes from Benguet State University?

o The message must come from the 2327 and username assigned to the university which is BSUCAR. An example is:

BSUCAR Intramurals will be on Aug. 10, 2010. {note: this message must come from 2327 only}
