About this collection
CARIANA is a database of indigenous knowledge in the Cordilleras. A digital collaboration initiated by Benguet State University Library and Information Services through the help of Baguio-Benguet Librarians Association using an open source system and open access principle. The data to be archived and to be provided will be used in the advancement of human knowledge and promotion of indigenous knowledge and practices in the Cordilleras. CARIANA envision to 1) archive varied published and unpublished knowledge about the Cordillera, 2) provide access to indigenous knowledge of the Cordillera region, and 3) provide a portal for easier access to information and knowledge promotion about the Cordillera. Success in achieving these goals is expected to result in a well informed Cordillera community in around the world. Participating institutions and agencies are:

University of the Cordilleras,
University of Baguio ,
Ifugao State University ,
Tebtebba Foundation, and
Researchmate Incorporation. Cariana word was conceptualized by Mr. Lauren P. Kipaan, College Librarian 11 of Benguet State University. Cariana is also used as a name of a sub-section of Filipiniana section at BSU Library.
