“Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity Through Research and Development Towards Food Sufficiency and Competitive Enterprises”

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) of the Department of Agriculture is now calling for the submission of scientific papers for the 28th National Research Symposium (NRS). The competition is open to all Filipino scientists and researchers from DA units and agencies, state universities and colleges, and other government institutions under the DA’s National Agriculture and Fisheries R&D System (NaRDSAF) that conduct R&D work in agriculture and fisheries. Entry papers must be based on results of R&D projects/activities completed in the past five years (2011-2016).

Submit fully accomplished NRS entry form together with the manuscript in six (6) hard copies and a digital copy on a recordable CD (digital copy of the paper may also be sent electronically throughnrs.dabar@gmail.com and nrs@bar.gov.ph on or before 31 August 2016 to:

Dear Scientist,

We would like to inform you that the call for applications for the AAAS-TWAS Course on Science and Diplomacy to be held in July 2016 in Trieste, Italy is now open.
 
The course is organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and TWAS and aims to expose participants to some key concepts on the interactions between the scientific and policy-making communities. It will also explore contemporary international policy issues relating to science, technology, environment and health.

The AAAS-TWAS Course on Science and Diplomacy will be held from 11 to 16 July 2016 in Trieste, Italy.

US Peace Corps Response Volunteers

The US Peace Corps – Response Philippines is now accepting requests for Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs). Peace Corps Response is a unique and innovative program that mobilizes experienced and qualified professionals (the requester can specify minimum/desired qualifications), to serve in short-term technical assistance to countries worldwide. PCRVs are selected from a pool of Peace Corps Volunteers with a range of specialized skills. These skills include but are not limited to the following:
Disaster Risk Management                          - Child Development

GPS/GIS Mapping                                        - Special Education

Environmental Conservation                        - Organizational Development

-  Coastal Resource Development                    - Solid Waste Management
-  Information Technology                                  - EcoTourism Development
Youth Development                                       - Monitoring and Evaluation


The counterpart expected of the requesting organization is to provide both housing accommodation (and work related travel expenses, if necessary). PC Philippines provides the Volunteer monthly allowance to take care of personal expenses such as food, books, personal travel etc.

NOTICE OF ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR THE BSU FACULTY CLUB MAIN CAMPUS

Members are hereby invited to file candidacy for twentyothree (23) different offices of the BSU Faculty Club Main Campus.  The positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Public Relations Officer, Business Managers (2), Sergeant-at-Arms (2) and College/Institute Representatives (12).
  • The qualifications as set-out in the Faculty Club Constitution and By-Laws are: For President and Vice President positions, the candidate must have a permanent status of employment at BSU, at least four years in service at BSU, and does not hold a position equivalent or higher than a Dean or Director. For other positions, the candidate must have a permanent status of employment at BSU and at least one year in service at BSU.
  • Forms for the Certificate of Candidacy are available from the ELECOM c/o Ms. Joan Balinggan of the BSU Accounting Office.  Completed Certificates of Candidacy must be received by the ELECOM before 5:00 PM of November 16, 2015.  Filing fee is Php 1000 for President, Php 500 for Vice President and Php 50 for other positions.
  • Campaign period is from November 9 to November 19, 2015.
  • All members of the Faculty Club Main Campus are called to cast their vote on November 20, 2015.
The BSUGEA Officers has been requested to constitute the Election Committee (ELECOM) for this exercise (and it has been gladly accepted by BSUGEA officers).
